A Closer Look at Three Situations

"The Drawer That Kept Getting Ignored"

The Situation

A retired couple had accumulated two decades of documents across multiple employers, a government scheme, and several bank accounts. The paperwork lived in two different drawers and a bag. Neither person was certain what they actually had.

What We Did

Over a single three-hour visit, we went through everything together. Each document was identified, briefly explained, and placed in a category within the printed organiser. Anything requiring further official action was noted separately with the relevant contact information.

The Result

At the end of the session, the couple had one folder with everything they needed, clear labels they had chosen themselves, and a short list of three follow-up items to deal with through the appropriate official channels. They described it as "finally feeling in control of it."

"I Didn't Know What Questions to Ask"

The Situation

A man in his early sixties, approaching the point where he would need to interact with the Social Security Office for the first time, had received several formal letters he didn't fully understand and had been postponing the visit for months out of uncertainty.

What We Did

He attended the Briefing Sessions package. Across three short meetings, we walked through how the process generally works, what each type of letter typically means, and what a standard visit to the relevant office usually involves. We gave him the glossary and printed session notes to take away.

The Result

He attended the office the following month and later called to say it had gone smoothly. He mentioned that knowing what to expect in advance had made the appointment "much less stressful than I thought it would be." He referred two friends to us afterwards.

"Our Children Live in Another Province"

The Situation

An older widow wanted her adult children, who lived in Bangkok, to have a clear picture of her finances and records in case it was ever needed. She was in good health but felt that having things "properly set out" would be a comfort to everyone.

What We Did

We completed the Complete Family Records Package across two visits. Her daughter joined via a phone call during part of the second session. At the end, we produced a labelled filing system, a written summary of the main record categories, and the family briefing sheet — a copy of which was sent to her daughter.

The Result

Her daughter contacted us to say that having the briefing sheet had removed "a low-level worry that had been there for a long time." The client herself said she felt she had done something responsible and practical for the family without any fuss.
